In Memoriam

Angel Gabriel Vargas Hernandez

2005 – 2026

Angel Gabriel Vargas Hernandez

Angel Gabriel Vargas Hernandez, 20, passed away on February 11, 2026, as the result of a car accident. Though his time on earth was far too short, Angel filled his years with purpose, passion, and deep love for those around him.

Angel was the beloved son of Arnulfo and Carmen (Hernandez) Vargas. He was a humble, generous, and genuinely kind young man whose presence brought comfort and joy to family and friends alike. Angel had a special appreciation for the finer details in life—especially his well-loved collection of cologne. He never left the house without a spritz, always wanting to look sharp and smell his best. It was just one of the many ways he expressed pride in himself and respect for others.

He found peace and happiness outdoors, especially when hunting, and he valued the quiet strength that nature offered. Angel was also an exceptionally talented barber at Modern Gents in Wausau. With his modern spin on a classic cut, he built not only an impressive client base but a loyal following. His chair was more than a place for a haircut—it was a place of connection, laughter, and friendship. His clients quickly became friends, and his work reflected both his skill and his heart.

Above all, Angel cherished his family and remained grounded in his faith. His love for those closest to him was unwavering, and he carried that love into every part of his life.

He is lovingly survived by his parents, Arnulfo and Carmen; his brother, Mauricio; his sister, Neidy; his girlfriend, Arely; his maternal grandmother, Rosa Maria Rojas; his paternal grandmother, Maria Concepcion Juarez; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, clients, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Oscar, and by both of his grandfathers.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 229 S 28th Ave, Wausau. The Very Reverend Sabastian Kolodziejczyk will officiate.

A Rosary service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at John J Buettgen Funeral Home-Mosinee Chapel, 900 Old Hwy 51, Mosinee, WI.

Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, 900 Old Hwy 51, Mosinee, WI, and again on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Angel's life reminds us to love deeply, work passionately, and carry ourselves with quiet confidence. His memory will live on in every fresh cut, every walk in the woods, and every lingering scent of cologne that brings him to mind.

Arrangements by John J Buettgen Funeral Home.
