Growing up in Wausau, Aubrey loved participating in any and all sports. From his early love of Little League Baseball, downhill skiing, (which he did into his 80's), to competitive ski jumping. He was an outstanding athlete. His love for ski jumping earned him numerous awards including Longest Jump and Most Graceful in tournaments around the upper midwest.
He attended Wausau High School where he served as Class President, was a member of the 1960 State Championship Basketball Team, went to the WI State Tennis Tournament, and was the recipient of the American Legion Gold Medal for Outstanding Athlete. He was also inducted as a member of the Wausau East HS Hall of Fame.
Aubrey attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, later transferring to UW – Stevens Point on a football scholarship, where he was named to the All-Conference Football Team twice. He was a member of the University Diving/Swim Team and was a two-time Wisconsin State AAU Diving Champion.
After graduating from college, Aubrey managed a United Parcel Service distribution center in southeastern Wisconsin. He left UPS to begin his insurance career with Wausau Ins. Co. serving as a Benefits Mgr. for the Twin City Region. He earned a CLU Designation and went on to work as a Life/Benefit Mgr. for a national insurance company.
Aubrey was beloved by all who had the good fortune to know him. He had a full arsenal of jokes and somehow never forgot any of them. He loved to tell stories. Many of his friends had heard some of his "A. Fish" stories many times but somehow they got funnier each time he told them. He loved making people laugh.
Patti and Aubrey spent their time between Minnesota and Arizona. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He loved traveling, playing tennis, golfing, skiing and, of course, was an avid Packer and Badger fan.
Aubrey is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patti (Hayes) Fish, his daughter, Sara (Scott) Martinka, and sons Aubrey, Brett (Ellen) and Scott and grandchildren Jonny and Lainey Martinka, Brandon (Amanda) May, Dawson and Scottie Fish and Allie (Jatin) Bansal, brothers Bill (Sharon) and Ron (Betty) Fish, and brother-in-law Mike (Jan) Hayes. Aubrey was an amazing person, kind-hearted, generous, warm, loving, incredibly funny, and a constant prankster. He filled our every day with stories, surprises, sunshine and lots of laughter. He was a loyal friend, brother, husband, dad and Bapa. We will all miss him so very much.
