David J. Jones, 70, Mosinee, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home.
David was born on February 25, 1956, in Milwaukee, WI, a son of the late James and Winifred (Ladwig) Jones. He was a graduate of Reno High School and worked as a laborer, machinist and custodian for many years.
David was a man of remarkable talent whose creativity seemed to know no bounds. Gifted in leatherworking, woodworking, and craftsmanship, he had an incredible ability to transform an idea into something beautiful with his own hands. Whether creating custom leather pieces, building with wood, or tackling a new project, his inventive spirit and keen eye for detail were evident in everything he made. He found his greatest peace outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and embracing the beauty of nature. A cowboy at heart, David never tired of a good Western and admired the values of hard work, loyalty, and independence they represented. Above all, he cherished his family and friends and was especially proud of his three grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Though he often insisted he didn’t enjoy cooking, those closest to him knew better—he was the one behind the grill and in the kitchen at family gatherings, creating memorable meals that brought everyone together.
David is survived by his wife, Julee, two sons, Emmett (Amanda) and Garrett (Brianna); and three grandchildren, Coralee, Charly and Jameson. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A Celebration of David’s life will take place at 2:00 p.m., on July 9, 2026, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Deacon Kevin Breit will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m., until the time of service, all at the funeral home. Online condolence may be directed to the family at www.bestefh.com.
