Delores L. Brzezinski

1936 – 2025

Delores L. Brzezinski

Delores L. Brzezinski, 89, of Wausau WI passed away at home in her sleep, joining her beloved husband Stanley, son Jeff, and her Savior to eternal joy on December 22, 2025. Released from her struggle with COPD, her breaths no longer labored, she is home and at peace.

She was born April 20, 1936, in Marathon, WI to the late Harry and Odelia Sonnentag. She married Stanley Brzezinski on May 26, 1956.

Delores loved her family deeply and managed to raise hers while also working full time in partnership with Stanely owning and successfully operating Bajet Van Lines for over 35 years. Stanely was the salesman, but Delores was the business brain. She was highly intelligent, a master with numbers, and a very strong independent woman working during the 60's, 70's & 80's in the very male dominated, moving, storage & trucking business. She held her own & through her leadership the business's success provided well for her family. She accomplished this while also cooking, baking & sewing for her busy growing bunch, following her 3 boys all over the state watching them wrestle, play baseball, football & tennis. Delores's family always included a dog or two. Her love for the four-legged kids was lifelong. She often told stories about the best dog ever Buster, and other favorites Pierre & Cocoa.

Delores also liked to have fun. She was an avid card player and participated in many card clubs for over 65 years!! Her last card game just weeks before her passing. She absolutely cherished her lifetime friendships made while playing Crown, Sheepshead & Canasta. She loved spending time with her sisters also playing cards, SHOPPING, and going to the casinos where she used her number skills to often go home a winner. She chatted on the phone often and they still got together for siblings' birthday and Christmas celebrations where Wally joined as well. She was a voracious reader, always a stack of books within her reach. No book was too thick, nor font too small to stop her. She liked historical fiction where she said she enjoyed getting lost in a story but learning something along the way. In recent years, her faith was renewed with an assurance of eternal life and devoted herself to morning devotional readings of God's promises and hope which brought her peace and strength.

A description of Delores would not be complete without including her Milwaukee Brewers fandom. She never missed a game. It brought her so much joy and she was sure she could manage the team better than whomever was in charge at the time! She always challenged herself to learn. At 89, she had a smart phone, apple watch, an Alexa and a Ring doorbell owning more gadgets than many of her kids and grandkids!

Delores is survived by her two sons: Daniel (Karen), Alan (Valerie) Brzezinski, brother Wally Sonnentag, sisters: Rita (Larry) Perrodin, Carol (Dan) Brusky, brother-in-law Alex (Marilyn) Brzezinski, daughter-in-law Rita Kerswill and seven Brzezinski grandchildren: Jonathon, Joshawa, Nikolas, Natalie, Andrew, Danielle & Kyle.

Besides her parents, husband and beloved son Jeffrey, she was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Pospaholla, brother-in-law Walter Pospyhalla & sister-in-law Lucy Sonnentag.

We'd like to give a special thanks to our cousin Terrie. She moved into Delores's beautiful new apartment with her. Delores's greatest fear in her final months was being alone and because of Terrie she never had to be. You are a true Godsend and we will all be eternally grateful for all you did for her.

Services will be held Saturday, January 24th at Peace United Church of Christ in Schofield, WI. The Rev. Vicki Wunch officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with service starting at 11:00. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements by John J. Buettgen Funeral Home.
