In Memoriam

Dennis L. Fairchild

1941 – 2026

Dennis L. Fairchild

Dennis L. Fairchild, 85, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, under the care of Compassus Hospice at the House of Dove Hospice House.

Dennis was born on January 22, 1941, on a farm in Iowa to the late John and Gladys (Hartung) Fairchild. His passion for chemistry, water quality, and sales eventually brought him to Wisconsin, where he built both his career and his family.

Water was more than Dennis's profession—it was his life's work. He believed deeply in the importance of clean, high-quality water for both people and animals. Throughout his career, he helped develop formulas that improved the quality of silage and water used by dairy farmers, contributing to healthier cattle and improved milk production. He took great pride in knowing his work made a meaningful difference for agricultural communities. Dennis ate, breathed, and lived water.

Dennis was a man of quiet strength. Though reserved by nature, he was generous with his time, knowledge, and support. He was intelligent, compassionate, and had a lifelong interest in politics and current events. Those who knew him looked to him as a steady source of wisdom and strength.

Above all else, Dennis treasured family. He loved not only his biological family but also the family he gained through his dear friend, Jean Burt. Jean and her family, especially Kim Meer, held a special place in his heart and enriched his life with their friendship, love, and support.

Dennis is lovingly survived by his children, David Fairchild of Colorado, Darcy (Phil) Flynn of Indiana, and Tonya (Randy) Jones of Kentucky; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his dear friend, Jean Burt, along with her family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Fairchild Jr.; his wife, Kay Fairchild; his parents, John and Gladys Fairchild; two brothers, Gordon and Gerald; and one sister, Nola Jean.

In accordance with Dennis's wishes, no services will be held at this time. His final resting place will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
