Ervin was born on September 19, 1945, in Birnamwood, the son of Emery and Lorraine (Lenzner) Resch.
On November 11, 1972, Ervin was united in marriage to Patricia (Trish) Haisan at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Birnamwood.
Ervin started out working on his farm for several years. He then became a self-employed mason worker and later worked in manufacturing at Iron Works and HammerBlow. Ervin's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was known for his selflessness and positive outlook on life. Ervin liked to stay busy and was always helping his family with projects if he didn't have his own projects to work on. Some of his favorite moments were spent at the cabin he built at Steven's Lake, where each spring he worked hard to make maple syrup with his children and grandchildren. It was a place that brought him peace and joy. He was an avid NASCAR, Brewers and Packers fan. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, mostly because it was also precious time with his family.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Trish; six children, Jason (Jenny) Resch, Jenny (Jim Krueger) Resch, Waylon Resch, Travis (Jolene) Resch, Rachel Huebsch, and Cassie (Caleb) Zblewski; 13 grandchildren, Miranda (Ryan) Borgemoen, Dylan Resch, Justin (Teryn) Kuse, Kaitlyn (fiancé, Matthew Szymanski) Kuse, Kylie (Tyler) Thiex, Brendan 'Bucksnort' Resch, Wren Xiong, Allison Resch, Gavin and Emma Huebsch, Carson, Coralee, and Camden Zblewski; six great-grandchildren, Liam and Cole Borgemoen and Kinsley, Tamen, Truett and Tulsen Thiex; brothers and sisters, Judy (Don) Armstrong, Ron 'Berf' (Jonelle) Resch, Shirley (Tom) Schreurs, Ed (Carol) Resch, Dorothy (Ron) Gehring, Norman (Mary) Resch, Fred (Nancy) Resch, Paul (Sharon) Resch, Jean (Michael) Rolnecki, Theresa 'Kitty' (Bob) Vollendorf, Peter (Lori) Resch, Patty (Charlie) Knapp, and Janette (Jerry) Baumann; brother-in-law, John Haisan; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Lorraine, father-in-law, Pete Haisan Sr. and mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Marian and Vernon Matsche.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Vicente Llagas will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church.
