Gerald A. Brzezinski

1955 – 2026

Gerald A. Brzezinski

Gerald (Gary) Alan Brzezinski, 71, died June 9, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 2, 1955 in Wausau, son of the late Henry and Dorothy (Dombrowski) Brzezinski.

Gary was a 1973 graduate of Newman High School, Wausau. He began his career as a groundskeeper at the former Employers Insurance in Wausau. Later, he began a 30-year career at Lee Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau as a groundskeeper.

Gary was a big Green Bay Packers fan and never missed watching or listening to a game. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races over the years. His love for the outdoors was a great complement to his chosen profession.

Survivors include his siblings: Rev. Hilary Brzezinski, O.F.M., Greenwood, Miss., Norb Brzezinski, Wausau, Deb (Ken) Dorshorst, Mosinee, Jerry (Hollie) Brzezinski, Green Bay and Cindy (Paul) Prior, Lake Elmo, Minn., nieces and nephews: Ryan (Jodi) Dorshorst, Jenna (Dave) Coldwell, Danielle (Eric Lindbergh) Brzezinski, Zachary Brzezinski, Patrick (Mary Teresa) Prior and Molly (Matthew) Freidel; seven great-nephews: Theodore, Arthur and Simon Dorshorst, Hank Coldwell, Beckett Lindberg, Albert Prior and Walter Freidel; two great-nieces: Lucy Freidel and Lidwina Prior; aunts: Bea Dombrowski, Lucille Dallman, Joyce Gagas, and many cousins on the Brzezinski and Dombrowski sides.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Craig.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 611 Stark St., Wausau, with viewing from 9-10:30 a.m. at the church.  Rev. Allan Slowiak and Deacon Peter Burek will concelebrate.  There will be a visitation on Monday, June 15, from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 N. 6th St., Wausau.  Burial will be at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Wausau.
