Gilbert E. Slivicke, 88, Town of Reid, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at home, with his wife Bonnie of 60 years at his side.
Gilbert was born November 11, 1937, on the family farm, son of the late, Thomas Sr and Julia (Chmiel) Slivicke, where he was raised and developed the strong work ethic and values that would guide him throughout his life. He attended Rosenberry grade school in a one-room schoolhouse before going on to Mosinee High School. After school, he and his brother Tom, moved to Milwaukee in search of work. After trying many different professions, Gilbert discovered his passion for the concrete industry. Through hard work, determination, and integrity, he built a successful business that he proudly owned and operated as Slivicke & Sons Cement Contractors. Retiring at 73.
In 1958, Gilbert married Laverne Paszkiewicz, daughter of the late Anthony and Marion (Golembiewski) Paszkiewicz. Later, in 1966, after Laverne’s passing, he met and married Bonita Geiger-Fobes, who was also widowed. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Pupp) Geiger. Together, they built a beautiful, blended family, embracing children from each of their previous marriages and welcoming one child they had together. Their 60 years together were a testament to enduring love, unwavering commitment, and the family they created.
Gilbert loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. His passion for hunting took him across the United States and on the adventure of a life time to Africa. Gilbert was known for his dedication, generosity, and the lasting relationships he built throughout his life.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Bonnie Slivicke; his sister Joyce Oertel-Gantner, his children, Michael (Linda) Slivicke, James (Joanne) Slivicke, Mary (Marvin) Schultz, and Scott (Kim) Slivicke; nine grandchildren, Sylvia (Rick) Green, Lorna (Steven) Richter, Jonathon (Megan) Slivicke, Joshua Slivicke, Jessica Slivicke, Marvin Schultz, Lucas (Brittany) Slivicke, Jacklyn (Phil) Scott, and Ashley (Brad) O’Connell, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Besides their parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by, his first wife, Laverne Slivicke; brother Thomas Slivicke Jr, son Bill Fobes-Slivicke, brother in-laws Charles (Chuck) Oertel, Claude Gantner, Jerry Behnke, Daniel Fluegge, Gerald Geiger, and Donald Schmidt, brothers and sisters in-law Daniel & Gloria Kleman, and Dennis & Stephanie Geiger.
A Funeral Service will take place at 12 noon, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Father Aaron Becker will officiate.
