Glen A. Engebretson

1940 – 2026

Glen A. Engebretson

Glen A. Engebretson, 86, passed away on March 21, 2026, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Glen was born on February 20, 1940, to the late Bert and Edith (Perry) Engebretson in Wausau. On June 26, 1965, Glen married the love of his life, Jeanette Wolf, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Rothschild. The couple shared 60 beautiful years together.

Glen was a 1958 graduate of Wausau High School. Glen dedicated 39 years to Northern Auto/CARQUEST, serving as a store manager. He also devoted 48 years of service as a volunteer fireman and EMT with the Rothschild Fire Department, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief. Glen was active in Scouting as a Cubmaster, enjoyed singing in the church choir, and spent many years pursuing a passion for HAM radio.

Glen is survived by Jeanette and three children: Brian (Amy) Engebretson; Julie (Jason) Barnum; and Brenda Engebretson, all of Wausau. Glen is also survived by two grandchildren, Rebecca Engebretson of Stevens Point and Nathanial (Ashley) Engebretson of Mosinee; two great-grandchildren, Leylynn and Colter; one brother, Walter (Margo) Engebretson; and many nieces and nephews. Glen was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey, and two brothers, Bernard and Lester.

Funeral services will be held on March 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 611 Stark Street, Wausau, with Rev. Al Slowiak officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kronenwetter.
