James "Jimbo" M. Niewolny, 78, of Edgar, died Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born January 28, 1948, in Marshfield, son of the late Myron and Mary (Schrauth) Niewolny. Jimbo married Betty Buetow and they later divorced but remained friends.
For many years Jimbo was the butcher at the Edgar IGA. He was also a volunteer fireman in Edgar for 27 years, loved watching sports, especially baseball and football and in his younger years he loved to bowl. Jimbo enjoyed the simple things in life, and nothing was better than ripping a few rip tickets at a favorite bar or cheering on the Packers and the Brewers.
Survivors include his son, Travis (Erin) Niewolny of Edgar and grandson, Mason; stepdaughter, Tina (Steve) Seidl of Wausau and their children, Madelyn and Hanna Seidl; siblings, Bob Niewolny of Tomahawk, Karen (Dennis) Dallman of Edgar, and Mike Niewolny of Edgar; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Niewolny.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Noon, Friday, February 6, 2026 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Alan Wierzba will preside. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
