It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of JD Tackett, age 72, who passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026.
JD was born on May 15, 1953, in Pikeville, Kentucky to J.C. and Gladys (Hall) Tackett where his roots and love for family began. As a young boy he moved to Michigan with his mom, dad, and sister.
JD was a man who enjoyed life. He had a passion for fishing, loved fast cars, and was one of the biggest Elvis Presley fans you could ever meet. Whether he was listening to Elvis's music, talking about classic cars, or spending time by the water with a fishing pole in hand, JD found joy in the simple things and shared that joy with those around him.
Above all, JD loved his family deeply. He leaves behind his children, Angie (Brian), Jay (Sarah), Tiffany and Amber (Shane); his beloved grandchildren, Justin, Logan, Jordan, Heaven, and Izaiah; his wife, Linda Tackett and first wife Linda McGregor. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
JD will be remembered for his personality, his love of music and Elvis, and the laughter and stories he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, his father and his sister, Ellen.
