Kenneth "Ken" J. Thario, 73, Wausau, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born June 7, 1952 in Oconto Falls, son of the late Joseph and Loretta (Colson) Thario.
Ken worked as a computer programmer for many years and then as a trucking parts specialist.
Ken was an avid sports enthusiast. In addition to playing softball himself, he coached the 9 -12 year old division of the Wausau Area Girls Softball Association for 20 years, impacting many lives with his encouragement, support, and visits to Dairy Queen.
He faithfully supported the Green Bay Packers year after year regardless of their record.
He enjoyed attending Wausau East High School sporting events, cheering on the Lumberjacks in a variety of sports.
Ken was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Wausau. As a man of strong faith he enjoyed sharing his insight and knowledge as the leader of the Adult Sunday School Class. He served as an usher as well as the church treasurer for many years.
Survivors include his sisters, Kathy (Bob) Rice, Batavia, IL and Kandy (Richard) Herra, Elburn, IL and a nephew, R.J. (Sydney) Herra, Iowa.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Karen.
