Leon Zieglmeier, 85, passed away on March 30, 2026, at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. Leon was born on October 24, 1940, to the late Martin and Mildred (Anvoots) Zieglmeier in Wausau. On July 2, 1960, Leon married the love of his life, Carol Kraimer, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Wausau. The couple shared 57 beautiful years together.
Leon was a 1958 graduate of D.C. Everest High School. Leon was an Auto Mechanic for most of his career. He also devoted 25+ years of service as a volunteer fireman and EMT with the Schofield Fire Department. Leon truly enjoyed his late career and retirement job driving School Bus for the D.C. Everest School District. He and Carol loved camping, beginning with family trips in a tent and progressing to a permanent campsite for many years following retirement. In his younger years he embraced the Wisconsin winters by enjoying snowmobiling with family and friends almost every weekend. The last seven years he has happily avoided Wisconsin winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. Leon has been a lifelong member of St. Therese Parish, Rothschild WI. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council #4628, the Knights of Columbus bowling league in his younger years, and the Wausau Interchurch Dartball league. He enjoyed playing many different card games with family and friends (as long as you didn't lead a trump).
