Marcella R. Hargraves

1934 – 2026

Marcella R. Hargraves

Marcella R. Hargraves, 91, Wausau, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born June 23, 1934 in Gaylord, MN, daughter of the late Elmer and Sophia (Stencil) Kaldunski. On August 14, 1952, she married Marvin Hargraves at St. Anthony's Rectory in Athens, WI. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2014.

She was employed at the former 29 Super Market in the bakery department where she retired after 28 years of employment. She then enjoyed doing lots of baking at home for her family, especially at Christmas, making all kinds of cookies and different kinds of sweet breads. She also enjoyed decorating her home inside for all the holidays, especially for Christmas.

Marcella was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where she was an active volunteer at many different functions, among them was a Eucharistic Minister, Usher, Liturgy Assistant and taught Faith Formation Class for a few years. She also worked at St. Anne's famous fish fries and St. Anne's fest. She also volunteered for many years at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the Teddy Bear Clinic, also was Mrs. Claus for the volunteer's Christmas Tea at the hospital and Mrs. Claus for the Festival of Trees for over 20 years. Marcella and Marvin enjoyed trips to Germany, Florida, Michigan, Texas and Missouri.

Marcella is survived by her children, Michael (Cathleen) Hargraves, Weston, Marie Strasser, Barbara Merck and Sarah Hargraves, all of Wausau; son-in-law, Mark Peters, Georgia; six grandchildren, Andrea (Len) Moon, Georgia, Elizabeth (Richard) Higgins, Sheboygan, Erik Peters, Fitchburg, Jason (Becca) Hargraves, Merrill, Michelle (Ken) Kaminski, Hatley and Amy (Adam) Frei, Mosinee; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew, Marly, Emma, Bobbi, Brittany, Leeland, Alexandra, Theodore and John Paul; sister-in-law, Donna Kaldunski, Rib Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin; one daughter, Mary Jane Peters; one son-in-law, Larry Strasser; two sisters, Rosella Adams and Marjorie Diers; two brothers, Elmer and Daniel Kaldunski; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
