Peter Anthony Philipp, 85, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center Weston, with his loving wife Kay by his side.
Peter was born on April 1, 1941, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to the late Eugene and Mary Ann (Kostuck) Philipp. As a child, Peter attended several schools as his family moved throughout different areas, eventually graduating from Newman High School in Wausau in 1959.
Peter proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. Following his military service, he became a dedicated employee of the Schofield Post Office, first working as a walking mail carrier and later driving a rural route until his retirement. After retiring from the Post Office, he briefly worked at East Bay in Wausau.
Peter had a lifelong love for building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and helicopters, he also enjoyed bird hunting and fishing with family and friends, his hobbies brought him much joy and many friendships. He was also a member of American Legion Post 10 in Wausau.
Family was deeply important to Peter. He was a loving father figure to Gregory Hintz and his wife Alana and Anya whom called him Grandpa. He treasured the relationships he built throughout the years and remained devoted to those he loved.
On September 1, 1984, Peter married Darlene Tanck. Together they enjoyed spending time camping up north and creating many happy memories. Darlene preceded him in death on January 17, 2006.
Peter later married Kay (Robinson) Peterson on May 19, 2007, in Schofield. They had first met years earlier as two couples on a retirement trip to Boston sponsored by Liberty Mutual, where both Kay and Darlene were employed before retirement. Peter and Kay reconnected through the Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, where Kay and her late husband, Clare "Pete" Peterson, were members. Peter and Kay shared many wonderful years together traveling throughout the United States, often on organized bus tours. They also enjoyed several trips to Hawaii with dear friends Shirley and Mark Summers and made five memorable trips to Europe. Of all the places he visited, Ireland remained Peter's favorite.
Peter will be lovingly remembered for his gentle spirit, devotion to family, quiet sense of humor, and appreciation for life's simple joys. He especially adored his precious kitty, Daisy, who faithfully "herded" him around the house and brought him constant companionship.
