Ryan Paul Johnson, age 52, of Schofield, Wisconsin passed away Friday, June 19, 2026. He was born June 20, 1973 in Owatonna, Minnesota, the son of Susan Johnson and the late Gary Johnson.
Ryan graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1992. After high school, Ryan moved to Missoula, Montana. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to Greer, South Carolina, where he worked alongside his father as a salesman in the glass industry, running their warehouse. Returning to the Wausau area, he started his own landscaping business.
For those who knew Ryan, he was definitely not a Cheesehead. He preferred his purple and gold and loved harassing his Wisconsin friends- SKOL! In addition to football, Ryan also enjoyed hockey, fishing, flying his drones and above all, spending time with his friends. Ryan never missed an opportunity for a good time.
In addition to his maternal and paternal grandparents, Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Gary J. Johnson (South Carolina); brother, Jason; uncles Richard, Kevin Johnson and David Hansen. Ryan is survived by his mother, Susan J. Johnson (Schofield, WI); sister, Amy Haenggli and brother-in-law, Remo Haenggli (Switzerland); nieces, Kiehla and Annika Haenggli (Switzerland); stepmother Karen Johnson (South Carolina); along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly and will sadly miss him.
As you think of Ryan throughout your life, remember his loving heart and kind soul; his zest for life and his love to be surrounded by family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Ryan will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston, WI 54476.
The family wishes to thank the amazing and kind staff at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, in the various departments that Ryan was admitted to throughout his time there.
