He was born on October 13, 1942, the son of the late Franklin and Laona (Wenzel) Bentz.
John lived life with enthusiasm, kindness, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. He had a lifelong love of traveling and stock car racing, and in his younger years proudly raced Mopar at tracks in Plymouth and Francis Creek—memories he cherished and enjoyed sharing.
Known for his generous heart, John was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His kindness was matched only by his quick wit and remarkable sense of humor. Above all else, family meant everything to him. He always looked forward to family gatherings and especially treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Bentz; his daughter, KiAnn Flenor; and his two sisters, Trudy and Sandy.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin (Jamie) Bentz and Keith (Jackie Czaikowkski) Bentz; his eight grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; and his loving partner of 23 years, Barbara Dallman, who stood faithfully by his side.
John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
A celebration of life for John will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 5:00 PM at the Eagle's Club, 1703 S. 3rd Ave, Wausau.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the extraordinary care they gave John.
