In Memoriam

Laron Thomas Erickson

1956 – 2026

Laron Thomas Erickson

Laron Thomas Erickson, of Bancroft, passed away on April 21, 2026, at the House of Dove Hospice House in Marshfield. He was born on September 27, 1956, in Wisconsin Rapids to the late Noral and Marjorie (Pohl) Erickson.

Laron grew up in Plainfield, Wisconsin, where he attended school. Following his education, he worked a few odd jobs before beginning a long and dedicated career with B&B Paving. He spent over 40 years working alongside his brother-in-law and his favorite nephew, Jim Benjamin Jr., until his retirement. Laron was a hardworking and dependable employee who rarely missed a day of work. He was his brother's right-hand man, known for keeping equipment running and tackling any mechanical issue that came his way.

A self-taught mechanic, Laron had a passion for restoring his "old Fords" and Oliver tractors. He also loved gardening and took great pride in his harvest, canning as much as he could each season.

Music was another of Laron's joys. He appreciated all kinds, but especially enjoyed bluegrass, The Beatles, and the Eagles. He often spent time with family "playing DJ" while everyone gathered together. Laron also enjoyed target practice in his backyard, especially when his children and grandchildren joined him.

He had a unique sense of humor and a quiet wit that those closest to him cherished. Laron loved sharing stories with his grandchildren—many of which they continue to tell today.

He is survived by his daughters, Angela Kleman (John Mallek) and Alycia (Mike) Firkus; five grandchildren, Benjamin (Courtney) Berndt, Patrick (Paige) Kleman, Nicholas Kleman, Marshall Firkus, and Abby Firkus; and one great-grandson, Jett Berndt. He is further survived by his sister, Natalie Erickson; and his loyal companion of the past six years, his dog, Novah.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Compassus Hospice for the care they provided to Laron.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Family and friends may leave words of remembrance at mwcs.ws.

Arrangements by Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society.
