Mary S. (Salzman) Smith, of Wausau, passed away on June 19, 2026, one day shy of her 81st birthday. She was born on June 20, 1945.
Forty-eight years ago, Mary married the love of her life, James Smith, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Together they shared a life filled with love and devotion.
Mary is survived by her three siblings, Louise, Zookie, and Jim. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. Closest to her heart was Cece Upton, who was like a daughter to her and lovingly helped care for her for more than 15 years. Cece's children became the grandchildren Mary never had and brought great joy to her life.
Mary also leaves behind her two beloved fur babies, Rick and Marty.
She was preceded in death by nine siblings and her very special puppy, Dennis.
Per Mary's wishes, no services will be held.
Mary was a wonderful person with a big heart who was always giving to others. Her kindness, generosity, and love for family and friends will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
