In Memoriam

Willard "Will" Nyquist

2001 – 2026

Willard "Will" Nyquist

Will was born December 2, 2001, to Jeffery and Angie (Berth) Nyquist. He thrived when they moved to the family farm where he grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work, family, and the outdoors.

After graduating high school, Will attended UW–Platteville. During his time there, he became an active member of the Baja Club, where he applied his passion for using his hands to build things. He took great pride in hauling the dune buggies across the country to compete in events, always eager for the next challenge.

Following college, Will began working for Servpro, a job he truly loved. He often said, "Every day is a great day for restoration," a reflection of both his work ethic and his outlook on life. He was a hands-on, gritty individual, who found satisfaction in helping people. There was no job too dirty… except for that one freezer…

Will's first vehicle was a truck that he loved and threw himself into learning how to fix. Fixing, building and creating brought him great satisfaction. Other favorite projects included his fishing boat and his grandfather's Allis-Chalmers tractor. He loved his motorcycle and the sense of freedom it gave him on country roads.

He enjoyed deer hunting, paintball, target shooting and hanging out with his buddies—anything that allowed him to get a little dirty and enjoy the outdoors.

Will had a generous heart, and was always ready to lend a hand, especially to his parents and grandparents. He was looking forward to standing beside his brother as Best Man, a role his family knows he would have filled with humor, sincerity, and a perfectly off-the-cuff speech.

Above all, Will was grounded in his faith and is now free in the presence of His Savior, Jesus Christ.

Will is survived by his loving parents, Jeff and Angie Nyquist; his brother, John (fiancée Abigail); his maternal grandparents, Chuck and Gail; his paternal grandmother, Gail; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his beloved furry friend, Harper.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Steve, and his loyal companion, Benny.

Will is fondly remembered for being gritty, quick to help, gentle, tenacious, a man of few words, even tempered, even keeled, steady, unflappable, full of integrity, and having high character. His presence, strong hands, kind heart, and unwavering willingness to help others will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Will died doing what he loved, with his boots on.

Visitation will be at 2 PM on Sunday, May 17, with a service to follow at 3 PM at Woodlands Church (190 Hoover Ave., Plover, WI 54467). Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting the family. Words of remembrance may be shared at MWCS.WS
